With the New Year coming, join us as we dive into "THE STORY" which will take us through the entire Bible. It also features lessons and discussions that we will use for all classes (all ages) on Wednesdays at our Family Training Hour.
We challenge you, as well as ourselves, to join us Sundays and Wednesdays in 2012 as we study God's Story -- the Bible -- and discover how our story and our lives are intertwined with God and His love.

The Church of God in Minot started very differently than was the norm for other churches of the denomination begun in the Dakotas, Montana or Western Saskatchewan. The common start of a church was for a leader to go into a community and seek out followers, however in Minot, the flock found the leader. Even those who were there at the beginning can not clearly point to the time the church started but what is known is how it began. Rev. Fred Frank, who was leading the small congregation asked Rev. Paul Walker to hold a revival in Minot, which led to the founding of the Minot Church of God. With the revitalized fellowship, Walker became the first pastor the Minot Church of God.
There are reports of meetings being held in several locations before the first church was built. In nineteen thirty, a very successful revival was held in a tent just south of the current Minot State University. At the close of the seven-week revival, the group purchased a lot on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fourth Street NW. The members then dug a basement and developed a church. The basement church served for a period of years possibly into the early forties before the structure was placed above it. This building now houses the Minot Youth for Christ Program. The congregation, realizing the need for a larger facility, broke ground for a new church on Sixteenth Street NW on August 29, 1971 and dedicated the current church on December 3, 1972. There have been two additions to the structure since that time leading to the current facility.
The name of the church evolved over time. Originally the congregation was known as the Minot Church of God, but with the organizing of the East Side Church of God in 1959, the name was changed in 1962 to the West Side Church of God and finally in the late sixties to the current name West Minot Church of God.
The names of most of the saints who founded this church and sustained it for the many formative years are lost to history. Our God knows them and will reward them accordingly. Rather than listing the names in these limited writings, we ask those families who have descended from our church forefathers to continue an oral history of their faithfulness and the contributions each made to bring our church to its present position. Any listing of early church leaders would omit some very deserving pioneers. Let each of us remember those we have known or heard about, but understand that we owe a debt of gratitude to many we cannot name.
The pastoral leadership of West Minot Church of God has been wonderful. For a church of this size, it has truly been served by more that its share of church leaders. The first pastor, Paul H. Walker, served many years as an Overseer as well as a number of years as Executive Secretary of Church of God World Missions in charge of missions work around the world. T. D. Mooneyham returned to a very successful mission assignment after leaving our church. No less than nine former pastors went on to lead the church as Overseers. They include The Reverends Walker, Logsdon, Frank Lemons, DeVore, Boatwright, Pratt, Triplett, Hathaway and Popejoy. The shortest-term pastor appears to have been Bartley Hicks, a member of the Church of God Executive Council who stayed only about three weeks, as he couldn't stand the cold weather. Two pastors served ten years each. They were Alan O. Hathaway and Ray Hurt. From our first pastor, Paul H. Walker, to our most current pastor, Jeff Heber, appointed August 29, 2004 we have been well served. The Lord has blessed us!
To be completely transformed by the spirit of Christ and to make disciples by fulfilling the Great Commission.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Our Vision is to be a GREAT church.
· G rowing lifelong followers of Christ (Discipleship)
· R aising our hearts to God (Worship)
· E xtending Christ's love to our community (Friendship)
· A dvancing the church through GREATER levels of
involvement (Partnership)
· T rusting God & His people to supply the resources to fund
His work (Stewardship)
We Value:
· The souls of the lost -- Luke 19:10
· Personal integrity -- Proverbs 10:9
· Corporate Worship -- Hebrews 10:25
· The Word of God -- Deuteronomy 6:6-9
· The gifts of Gods people -- Ephesians 4:11-13
· Wholesome fellowship -- 1 John 1:7
· The family of God -- Psalm 133:1
We Believe:
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.
In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.
In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

ABC Childcare is one of Minot's oldest and most trusted childcare facilities. From its beginnings in the 1970s to the present, ABC has been dedicated to providing an environment where children can experience a caring and nurturing environment. ABC provides infant, toddler, pre-school and school age care for children. Structured curriculum is provided for our children to begin learning the ABCs of life. Each Wednesday the children have a Bible lesson and interactive craft that will teach a life lesson with a Biblical truth.
LaVonne Beyerle has been the Center Director since 1999. She has over 30 years experience as a Center Director. LaVonne does an amazing job coordinating the multifaceted nature of this ministry. Her leadership over the last decade has been the key to our growth in the number of children we care for and the quality of care the children receive.
In recent years the center has expanded beyond the wall of the West Minot Church with two satellite centers. We now facilitate the ABC Child Development Center (CDC) at the Burdick Job Corps as well as ABC Kids Academy in Berthold ND.
"Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these." And he put his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left. - Jesus
May we be Christ's hands extended to care for and bless these little ones.

ABC Child Care provides quality child care. ABC Child Cares hours of operation are 6:45 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Programs are available for children ages infant to 11 years of age. Transportation is available to some local area schools.
As ABC Childcare continues to grow and make room for more children, the need for more staff and workers arises.
If you are interested in working with ABC Childcare and/or want to know about open positions, please call 701-852-6352 or email me .
This is our home page for all the ministries of West Minot Church of God.
It is our mission to help people make a positive, life-changing connection with Jesus Christ; enjoy new life, experience God and care for one another.
It is our goal to provide a place in ministry for and to reach every person in our church and our community.
Please take a look at the ministries, and contact us if you have any questions.
Young Adults is a movement to provide faith in Jesus Christ to young adults ages 18 to 29 through discussion groups, events and outreaches. We are committed to helping this generation of believers experience God through innovative methods.
Join us as we gather for fellowship and Bible study Wednesdays at 8pm in the Youth Center. The current study is "To Be A Christian" -- a study of the book of Romans.
Upcoming Events:
This ministry combines food and fellowship to couples or pairs of singles. New people are invited to attend these home-based gatherings, where they will be made to feel welcome and loved.

Are you in the middle?
Somewhere between young adult and Primetimers?
Then you are an M & M. Join us for fun evenings of food and fellowship. Watch for details on our next event!
Were still enjoying the "New Life". We are an exciting group of older adults who are actively involved in the church. We show the love of God by example, enjoying fellowship through ministry.
DivorceCare and GriefShare are special (separate) weekly seminars and support groups for people who are separated/divorced or for people grieving the death of a loved one. If you know someone going through a divorce, make sure they know about DivorceCare . It just might be the best thing you could do to help.
At GriefShare , you'll learn valuable information that will help you through this difficult time in your life.
Another way to be involved is through our Greeters team. Each Sunday there are a few greeters to hand out Bulletins, answer questions, and show you were classrooms are located.
In addition, we also have a Host Family every Sunday. They are in place to help visitors feel welcomed and maybe even go out to eat with them to further answer questions and discuss ways to get involved at West Minot.
Greeters Host Families and Visitation Teams
The Greeter and Visitation Team consists of the Greeters, Ushers and Hospitality people who strive to ensure that every person coming to the church feels welcome, and to extend the hand of friendship and Christ-like love.
We are a ministry based on music, Karaoke Music. We thoroughly enjoy providing this ministry either as a performance -- where we sing the songs -- or as an event or activity -- allowing you and other people to sing the songs of your choice.
We have been invited to numerous events, lead worship, performed in assisted living residences, and sing special music Sundays at West Minot Church.
We have been a Gospel Quartet for some time now. We had our beginnings base from West Minot Church. Over the years, the original members have mentored new vocalists so that the Prairie Gospel Quartet continues on even with new members.
See more information at Prairie Gospel Quartet's official website.
Wednesday starts off with a meal (during the school year) at 5:30 that is open to everyone. Afterwards, Family Training Hour classes start at 6:30 for all ages. The Children have class as well which features a key point, verse, activities, visual illistration. "Memory Money" is awarded to the children who remember the verse from previous weeks and/or do something that coincides with a past week's message or point. This money can be redeemed for prizes -- candy, toys, etc.
Sunday mornings we have a very well designed and running Children's church program. Not only do the children have a church service during the main service, they also break off into classes for lessons on the day's point/message.
We also offer Sunday school for children ages 3 to 6th grade at 9:30am (which coincides with the normal Sunday School hours -- classes for adults and youth).
We provide a nursery for children under two years old every Wednesday and Sunday. This is a safe place for them to play and have fun while their parent(s) enjoy fellowship and church activiities.

Welcome to the Youth Ministry of West Minot
Youth Ministry encompasses kids in 6th - 12th Grade.
I have been Youth Pastor here since July 2009, before which I was a youth leader for two years. In my history, I have worked with Minot Youth For Christ (YFC) for over three years and also with Minot State's Campus Crusade for Christ (now called CRU).
Our goal is to provide an environment where youth can experience the power of God through cutting edge music, develop friendships and participate in fun and life-changing events.
